Social custom

The Yemeni customs, traditions and life styles are diverse according to geographical variety and regions, where they become different among people of the mountain and coastal areas, and such differences are clear through the traditional clothing for men and women, as well as jewelry, cosmetics, Jambiyas,  cotton and bamboo hats, caps made of palm leaves, household wares such as pottery and stone pans ... etc.

Construction in Yemen has its own private stylewhich distinguished it from anywhere else in the world, as there is a great passion for buildings ornamentation from inside and outside, which appears clearly on the facades of palaces and historic buildings, in addition to the using of stones that brought from the Yemeni mountains for construction, among which the Saadi stones are the most famous. Also there are some other materials used for constructing buildings such as mud and burned bricks. Among the most famous characteristics of Yemeni architecture is the "Kamariya" glass of bright and brilliant colors that comes in a semi-circle shape over windows.

Social custom:

The Yemeni society is originally tribal,  where the tribe in Yemen is representing the main pillar of the social structure in the Republic of Yemen.It is known that many of the tribes in most Arabic countries and some Asian and African countries are descended from Yemeni origins, bothof which tribes that migrated from Yemen after the collapse of Marib Dam during the era of the ancient civilization of ShibaState, or those tribes who immigrated at the beginning of Islam era for the purpose of Islamic conquests.

It could be said that the proportion of social un-tribal groups in Yemen - in the modern era - is very limited as the Arabic community in Yemen and Arabian Peninsula is generally considered as tribal society in terms of origins and races, although many regions or tribes have adapted in different time stages with the requirements and concepts of civil society and became seen as a civilized, but they were originally considered as tribal. It is not matter how small or weakened is the tribe in terms of numbers, equipment, which does not change the origin validity, relationship of blood and the affiliationthat governs the family bonds between the people of Yemen and the Arabian Peninsula in general.

Tribal divisions in Yemen:

There are five major well-known divisions of the Yemeni tribes, namely:

• Bakeel tribes
• Hashed tribes
• Madhaj tribes
• Hemyer tribes
• Sakladi tribe

Arbitration proceduresin the tribal custom:

Sentences in tribal cases and disputes are issued on the basis of the rules and provisions of tribal customs with no violate to the provisions of the Islamic law.Person who judges in a case between disputers is called "Sheikh or Arbitrator " according the areas tribal dialects.
